#5 - My private games convention

It has been rather quiet over the past week or so. The reason is quite simple: I was visiting two friends and dived into a broad palette of games: WoW, CS v1.3 (of course), Hellgate London, Call Of Duty 4 and PokerStars (well, that was just for me but anyway). Concluding one week of video games and wasting time I can say: It was totally worth it!

I try posting my non-accomplishments more frequently from now on.

#4 - Long nights

As my days tend to start around noon it’s just halftime now. So yes, I am one of those people whose days begin when they wake up; respectively end when they go to sleep. It’s still today and not tomorrow even after midnight. I am yet undecided if I wanna give the Highlights Of The Day credits to the football game which just ended (German National Football Cup) or the priceless Chinese/Indian veggie whatever that I cooked for my mom and me. Eh, so two winners. Damn, there’s really nothing to do around here…

Tomorrow I’ll try to pimp up my boredom into something more interesting. Maybe reorganizing my drawer, YEAH!

#3 - Pakistani-Indian Relations

Big day, today! Not only did I discover (again) that Jim Carrey can really act – I watched The Number 23 which was quite entertaining – I also scheduled my late activities so that I could watch East Is East a dramaesk comedy about a Pakistani/English family whose patriarch is trying to force his sons into arranged marriages. The film has its highs and lows and reminded me of my time in India and the few occasions I got the locals to chit-chat about their matrimonial customs. Note that in todays India arranged marriages are still very common.

The movie takes place in England of 1971 – the time of the Indo-Pakistani War – which makes the father rant and enrage even more. Even today the divergence between the two countries – I am not gonna say ‘cultures’ because to us Whiteys it’s just one – is still noticeable and hostilities are the rule rather than the exception. A Pakstani friend who grew up in London wouldn’t get an Indian business visa for more than 3 months, so his company thought about sending him back to England. He continued his stay but I was surprised that prejudice, anger and stupidity really know no boundaries, skin colors and heritage. Well, not surprised but commemorated.

#2 - Waste the day with tuna

Did I mention that my fallback spot is far away from the city? In fact, it is far away from all cities which sometimes feels like I left mankind behind. Not that I feel overly dramatic today. Most of the weekend’s distress I left behind maltreating my punching bag and running my sorrows away (okay, I am overly dramatic today).
Still, all those activities I wouldn’t count as highlights.

The real highlight of today is tuna. Every once a while something is calling me from the pantry. It calls out: “Do something really nasty to me” So I did. Tuna rémoulade. My prandial atrocity turned out to be so good it decided to share the recipe.

Almighty Spicy Tuna Rémoulade:

1 can of tuna
2 medium pickles cut into very small squares
1 small red onion (or sweet white they got in the U.S.)
Standard salad sauce
Spicy Thai Mayonnaise (roughly one-fifth of the salad sauce)
White vine vinegar
Some sprinkles of water from the pickles
Freshly grounded black pepper
Salt
Chili

Mixed all the ingredients into creamy, thick, disgusting compound until you can’t stop drooling. Enjoy!

Highlight Of The Day - The Boredom Chronicles

At the moment, I am waiting for my next job to start. Until then I just sit here and do nothing. No, I really mean it. There’s nothing to do here. I am stuck in the middle of nowhere with a crappy infrastructure and barely anyone to meet.
I fixed a few things around the website, got drunk ’couple of times and did something stupid, read and played some video games. But all the stuff I am are dying to do when I have a busy schedule, does seem quite as appealing when I have all the time in the world. And it’s getting under my skin, too. I am barely motivated enough for my workout or to do anything.

Today’s Highlight: After watching an old episode of Diggnation, I discovered that Being a Geek is OK, and also, I could beat the crap out of 33 five year olds. Yeah!
